Who are you? What does it mean to be who you are?"(Heshmat, S. (2014, December 8). Basics of Identity. Psychology Today. https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/science-choice/201412/basics-identity) This all relates to the food you eat and your identity. Your food is particular to you and the choices you make. "Identity relates to our basic values that dictate the choices we make."(Heshmat, S. (2014, December 8). Basics of Identity. Psychology Today. https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/science-choice/201412/basics-identity) It is specific to maybe your culture or traditions. We do know "How we eat and talk about food are key parts of our identities."(Brown, J. (2019, February 25). The hidden significance of what we eat. Www.bbc.com. https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20190222-the-hidden-significance-of-what-we-eat) Identity and food are very connected. Everyone becomes different once we begin to be ourselves. There would be no such thing as unique if we all ate eggs and waffles for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You may add a little something as syrup in a circle formation and now you have your own identity. My identity is two waffles with ice cream forged in the middle, sprinkled with syrup on top and now I have me. "Today we are able to choose the community with whom we want to identify, and we can choose different communities based on food behavior, orientation, physical exercise, our clothes. Sometimes these communities fit together but sometimes they don’t, and we can choose different groups for different aspects of our everyday lives."(Brown, J. (2019, February 25). The hidden significance of what we eat. Www.bbc.com. https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20190222-the-hidden-significance-of-what-we-eat) I also want to talk about the division that our culture creates between us. Yeah, it is beautiful to have our own identity but at what cost does this come? Because of this we now have disagreements, fights, and even killings because of someone's identity. Our own identity can be a smokey mirror to us. Covering the truth that we are all the same. No matter your culture, skin color, race, name, or gender, we are all made out of the same stinking stuff. If there's one thing, I want to leave you with today it is, it's not bad to have your own identity but with this, you need to learn to be accepting. Because how will you ever accept yourself if you can't accept someone else.
